Arvind Kejriwal And His 10 Poll Guarantees
One day after leaving the Tihar jail, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the INDIA bloc, in which his party AAP is part of, would win the ongoing general election. He announced “10 guarantees” for a “vision of India” to be fulfilled if the INDIA bloc win the Lok Sabha election. Kejriwal”s guarantees encompasses a broad spectrum of public welfare initiatives including improved healthcare system and public welfare initiatives. He also assured that all the guarantees will be fulfilled within next five years.
Kejriwal said that BJP has always failed to keep its promises and his guarantees have proven record of implementing them. The Delhi chief minister said, “people have to take a call whether to go for “Kejriwal ki Guarantee” or “Modi Guarantee”.
Here are Arvind Kejriwal”s 10 guarantees:
1. The first guarantee is to provide 24-hour electricity. He said the country has the capacity to provide 3 lakh MW of electricity but the usage is only 2 lakh MW. He said it has been done in Delhi and Punjab and will do it in the whole country also. Kejriwal said, up to 200 electricity will be free for the poor. Calculating the expense of providing free electricity, he said, “it will cost ₹ 1.25 lakh crore, we can arrange it.
2. Kejriwal”s second guarantee is revamping the educational system in government schools. He said over Rs 5 lakh will be required for the process and that should be equally shared between the state government and central government.
Kejriwal said, “today the condition of our government schools is not good. Our second guarantee is that we will arrange good and excellent free education for everyone. Government schools will provide a better education than private schools. We have done it in Delhi and Punjab. ₹ 5 lakh crore will be required for this. State governments will give ₹ 2.5 lakh crore and central government will give ₹ 2.5 crore for this”.
3. The third poll guarantee is about the better healthcare. Speaking about the government healthcare in the country, Kejriwal said, every citizen born in the country will get free healthcare and treatment will not be done based on insurance, as it is a big scam. He said “the condition of our government hospital is not good in our country. Our third guarantee is better healthcare. We will arrange good treatment for everyone. Mohalla clinics will be opened in every village, every locality. District hospital will be converted into a Multi-speciality Hospital. Every person born in this country will get free treatment. Treatment will not be done on the basis of insurance as this is a big scam. We will create infrastructure. ₹ 5 lakh crore rupees will be spent on healthcare”.
4. The fourth poll guarantee is about putting the “Nation first”. Citing the issue of China, the national convenor of AAP said the incumbent government is denying that China has occupied Indian land. He said, “All the land of the country which has been occupied by China will be freed. For this, efforts will be made at the diplomatic level on one side and the Army will be given complete freedom to take whatever steps it wants to take regarding this”.
5. Kejriwal”s other schemes include withdrawing of the Agniveer scheme, which he said is troubling the youth. He said that all those who have been inducted through the programme will be given permanent postings. He said the scheme weakens the country”s army. “The Agniveer scheme, wherein the youth is inducted into the Army for four years and then asked to leave, has no ownership. This scheme was brought in because the Central felt that the burden of salaries was too high. We have to spend for the country’s security. We can’t compromise on that front”, said the AAP leader.
6. Kejriwal announced the “minimum support price” for the crop based on the Swaminathan report, and added that “you can ensure a respectable life for farmers if you pay them the price they deserve. They are currently begging and asking for their rights. When they don’t get the right price for their work, they commit suicide”.
7. The Delhi CM promised to full statehood to the Capital of the country.
8. Calling out the central government for the record unemployment in the country, Kejriwal promised that within one year, arrangements will be made to provide 2 crore jobs and it will be a “productive and effective employment”.
9. The AAP chief took a jibe at the BJP government for tailing police behind those who oppose and said that the system where honest people are being sent to jail and the corrupt are being protected will end. It is the biggest reason behind the country’s corruption”. He further added that, “BJP”s washing machine will be dismantled. Like we had attacked corruption at both the lower and higher levels in Delhi and Punjab, we will replicate it across the country”.
10. The tenth guarantee is to simplify Goods and Service Tax (GST) regime. He said, “GST will be taken out of the ambit of PMLA and simplified. If someone wants to do business in the legal way, they should be able to do it without problems. Our target is to leave China behind, which is far ahead in terms manufacturing and trade. If traders can’t do business easily and openly, it is a big impediment in the country’s progress”.
Kejriwal said over the span of 8 to 10 years, over 12 lakh high profile individuals have shut their businesses here and left the country “because the government has harassed them”.
