Bharuch Lok Sabha Seat: Ahmed Patel’s Daughter Mumtaz Patel Reacts After Congress-AAP Deal

After Congress and AAP has sealed their deal as part of Opposition INDIA alliance, one seat that attracted everyone’s attention was on Bharuch in Gujarat.

Bharuch, a Congress stronghold and known for the hattrick win of its late leader Ahmed Patel, has been given to AAP.

It has led to disappointment among the cadres, especially in the Patel household.

“Deeply apologize to our district cadre for not being able to secure the Bharuch Lok Sabha seat in alliance.I share your disappointment. Together, we will regroup to make Congress stronger .We won’t let Ahmed Patel’s 45 years of Legacy go in vain,” Ahmed Patel’s daughter Mumtaz Patel wrote on X.

Last week, since the news of INDIA alliance’s deal between AAP and Congress emerged, there were mourners and public reactions within the Congress party as there were expectations that either of Ahmed Patel’s children would be called to take on BJP in this prestigious seat in which the saffron party is winning for the last seven consecutive elections. It was in 1984, Congress had won the seat last, when Ahmed Patel emerged victorious in his old citadel for the consecutive third term.

Earlier, when the announcement or a deal was delayed, AAP announced Chaitar Vasva as its Bharuch candidate. Vasava represents the Dediapada Assembly constituency which comes under the Bharuch Lok Sabha.

Congress and AAP announced seat-sharing in Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Chandigarh and Goa, in a press conference held today morning.

In Delhi (7 seats), according to the deal, Congress to contest on 3 and AAP on 4.

In Gujarat (26 seats), Congress to contest on 24 and AAP on 2 (in Bharuch and Bhavnagar).

In Haryana (10 seats), Congress to contest 9 and AAP on 1 (Kurukshetra).

In Chandigarh, Congress to contest on the lone seat, while in Goa, Congress to contest on both seats.
