A Bihar government school teacher has been arrested for allegedly telling children in his class “nobody should vote for Modi.” A written complaint was filed against the teacher, Harendra Rajak, by the family members of some of the students.
After an FIR was filed by the district education officer (DEO), Ajay Kumar Singh, Rajak was arrested for violating the election model code of conduct, Muzaffarpur SSP Rakesh Kumar said.
Singh stated that a written complaint was filed after family members of many students of the government secondary school at Amrakh in Kurhani block cpmplained. Many of the family members claimed that Rajak had told the students that nobody should vote for Modi because food grains being distributed under the free ration scheme were unfit for human consumption.
“A written complaint was submitted by the family members that children were being told by the teacher that nobody should vote for Modi since foodgrains unfit for human consumption were being distributed under the free ration scheme,” the DEO said.
He added that several students also confirmed that the government school teacher had been saying such things in the classroom. “Prima facie it was a violation of model code of conduct which forbids any government employee from trying to influence poll outcome by speaking for or against any political party,” Singh said.
