After marathon deliberations and meetings for the past few days, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (March 2) announced the first list of 195 candidates for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election. The first list included prominent names including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 34 central and state ministers and two former chief ministers, the party general secretary Vinod Tawde said.

The Prime Minister will contest from his current constituency, Varanasi this time too. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be fielded in Gandhinagar constiteucny.
The BJP declared candidates for 51 seats from Uttar Pradesh, 20 from West Bengal, 24 from Madhya Pradesh, 15 from Gujarat, 15 from Rajasthan, 12 from Kerala, 11 from Assam, 11 from Jharkhand, 11 from Chhattisgarh, 9 from Telangana, 5 from Delhi, 2 from J&K, 3 from Uttarakhand, 2 from Arunachal Pradesh and 1 each from Goa, Tripura, Andaman & Nicobar and Daman & Diu.
The prominent leaders included in the first list are Kiren Rijiju from Arunachal West, Sarbananda Sonowal from Dibrugarh, Manoj Tiwari from North-east Delhi, Bansuri Swaraj from New Delhi, Amit Shah from Gandhinagar, Mansukh Mandaviya from Porbandar, CR Patil from Navsari, Nishikant Dubey from Godda.
Confirming the reports in Kerala, the actor-turned politician Suresh Gopi will contest from Thrissur. In addition, Anil Antony from Pathanamthitta, Rajeev Chandrashekhar from Thiruvananthapuram, Jyotiraditya Scindia from Guna, Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Vidisha, Arjun Meghwal from Bikaner, Bhupendra Yadav from Alwar, Gajendrasingh Sekhawat from Jodhpur, Om Birla from Kota, Bandi Sanjay Kumar from Karimnagar, G Kishen Reddy from Secunderabad.
