Just a day after boxer Vijender Singh tendered his resignation, the Congress leader and spokesperson Gourav Vallabh on Thursday resigned from party’s primary membership.

Vallabh has called the party to be “directionless” in a letter addressed to the Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. He has also cited the reasons such as caste census behind his decision to exit, adding that he cannot raise ‘anti-Sanatan’ slogans.

“I feel uncomfortable given how the party has become directionless today. I cannot raise ‘anti-Sanatana’ slogans and abuse the nation”s wealth creators. Therefore, I am resigning from all party posts and its primary membership,” his resignation letter said.

Gourav Vallabh contested the Rajasthan assembly election from Udaipur constituency in 2023. However, the BJP candidate has secured a comfortable win with a margin of over 32,000 votes.

He in his letter further alleged that the Congress party is moving in the wrong direction against the “basic principles of the party”.

In the two-page long letter, the former Congress spokesperson also alleged that the Congress’s stand on economic matters had “always been to humiliate and abuse the wealth creators of the country”.

Gourav Vallabh has handled Mallikarjun Kharge’s Congress President campaign and it was regarded to be an effective voice on economic issues.

Gourav in his letter stated that he had joined the Congress party to use to his knowledge in finance for the welfare of the country, “Yes, we are not in power today, but we could have presented our manifesto, and our policies, in a better way. However, this was done at any level of the party,” the chattered Accountant, who holds a Ph.D. as well said.

Vallabh also wrote that over the past few years, the party has failed to ‘realize’ expectations of ‘New India’.

“We have lost our ground-level connect, and therefore, did not realise what “New India” expects from us. Because of this, we have failed repeatedly in coming to power or to become an effective opposition. This demotivates workers like me. No positive change is possible if a worker cannot reach his leader directly,” he said. Vallabh also added that the leadership’s decision to skip the Ram temple ceremony, ‘shocked’ and ‘upset’ him.
