The current standing in the assembly election in the Badshapur constituency shows that the BJP’s Rao Narbir Singh has won with a margin of 60,705 votes adding to the total count of 1,45503 votes. Vardhan Yadav who competed for Congress witnessed a significant loss and has secured 84,798 vote counts as per the Election Commission of India. The other independent candidate Kumudni Rakesh Daultabad also lost by 1,14618 votes along with AAP’s Bir Singh Biru Sarpanch.

Rao Narbir Singh is a prominent politician from Haryana who was born on April 2, 1961, in Gurgaon. He comes from a family with a strong political background his grandfather, Mohar Singh Yadav, was an M.L.C. in Punjab state before the partition of India and Pakistan in 1942 and his father Mahavir Singh Yadav was a former cabinet minister in the state of Haryana.

Rao Narbir Singh has had a successful political career holding various portfolios in the Government of Haryana. He was the youngest elected representative to hold the office of State Home Ministry at just 26 years old. He was a Cabinet Minister in the BJP government from 2014 to 2019 overseeing the Department of Public Works, Department of Public Health Engineering, Department of Forests, and Department of Architecture.

He has won several legislative elections including those in Jatusana in 1987 and Sohna in 1996. He also held the positions of State Home Minister in 1987 and Transport, Food & Supply, and Cooperation Minister in 1996. However, he faced defeat in the 2009 Lok Sabha election from Gurgaon.

Badshahpur is a subdivision in Gurugram district, Haryana which is located on Gurugram-Sohna Road. The constituency has a diverse population with various caste groups including Ahir/Yadavs, Gujjars, Brahmins, Rajputs, Jats, Punjabis, Banias and Prajapatis with the Ahir/Yadav community being the largest group.

The candidates vying for the Badshahpur constituency seat include Rao Narbir Singh from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Vardhan Yadav from the Indian National Congress (INC), Bir Singh Biru Sarpanch from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Joginder Singh from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Surender Kumar from the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP).

In terms of electoral history, Rakesh Daulatabad, an Independent candidate emerged victorious in the 2019 Assembly Election with 106,827 votes who is followed by Manish Yadav of the BJP with 96,641 votes and Kamlabeer Singh of the Congress with 10,610 votes.

In the 2014 Assembly Election, Narbir Singh of the BJP won with 86,672 votes while Rakesh Daulatabad of the INLD received 68,540 votes and Mukesh Sharma, an Independent candidate got 35,297 votes with Virender Singh Yadav of the Congress securing 10,989 votes.
