Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency was passed between Congress and the Communist Party of India – Marxist CPI till 1999 when Trinamool Congress (TMC) came into the fore. Since the TMC came into power in West Bengal the Jadavpur seat is represented by the TMC candidates except once in 2004-09. It was CPI who wrested the constituency then. The Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency is considered as a high-profile seat with significant “intellectual” and urban voters.
This year CPI (M) candidate is Srijan Bhattacharyya, the AITC candidate is Saayoni Ghosh, and the BJP candidate is Anirban Ganguly for the Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency.
The past two years voting trend of the Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency reflects the gowth and downfall of political parties in the constituency.
