CPI(M) candidate N K Akbar has secured a closely contested victory from the Guruvayoor Assembly Constituency in the Kerala Assembly Election 2026, as per the Election Commission.

Representing the Left Democratic Front (LDF), Akbar secured 66,069 votes, defeating his nearest rival CH Rasheed of the Indian Union Muslim League by a margin of 1,998 votes. Rasheed finished second with 64,071 votes.

BJP candidate Adv. B. Gopalakrishnan ended in third position with 28,947 votes, trailing significantly behind the two leading candidates.

The result reflects a tightly fought battle between the LDF and UDF in Guruvayoor, with N.K. Akbar maintaining a small but crucial lead during the final stages of counting. The narrow margin highlights the competitive nature of the contest in this constituency.

The counting of votes was conducted under strict security arrangements, and the outcome adds to the LDF’s performance in key constituencies across Kerala in the 2026 Assembly elections.
