Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ganga Narayan Singh was leading ahead in Madhupur Assembly election results initially. While the JMM candidate Hafizul Hassan was trailing, however after turning the initial counts the JMM candidate emerged victorious in Jharkhand Assembly Elections.
In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Haji Hussain Ansari of JMM won the assembly seat after defeating Raj Paliwar of BJP with a big margin of 23,069 (10.05%) votes cast for this seat. JMM had a vote share of 38.40% in 2019 for this seat.

In the 2014 Jharkhand Assembly elections, BJP candidate Raj Paliwar won this seat defeating Hazi Hussain Ansari of JMM by a margin of 6,884 (3.46%) votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 37.32% in 2014 on this seat.
In the 2009 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Hussain Ansari of JMM won this seat defeating Shiv Dutt Sharma of JVM with a margin of 20,468 (13.87%) of the total votes cast for the seat. JMM had a vote share of 32.45% in 2009 in this seat.

A total of 20 candidates were in the electoral fray for the Madhupur Assembly seat in the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly election.
