Madhya Pradesh Transport and Revenue Minister Govind Singh Rajput, BJP candidate violated poll code in Sagar district. He offered Rs 25 lakhs to the ‘best booth’ where he wins with highest margin.

Rajput is a BJP candidate representing Sukhi assembly constituency in Sagar district. The district election officer has filed a case against the minister at Rahatgarh police station. A video was attached with the complaint alleging that the Rajput offered money to the booth.

Sources had said that the case has been registered under Representation of the People Act and under section 188 of IPC, reports time of India.

A video has recently gone viral in which he is seen announcing to give Rs 25 lakhs to the polling booth which gets the most votes for BJP in the upcoming election.

The Congress party has demanded the dismissal of Rajput. While speaking in a press conference at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi, senior party leader and former Mahila Congress Chief Shobha Oza urged the Election Commissioner to bar Rajput from contesting elections as he had openly resorted to corrupt practices by offering money to people.

She then alleged that the BJP has now started resorting such blatant inducements with huge cash as they have realized that they will lose the battle in Madhya Pradesh.

Mrs.Oza also alleged that another BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, national general secretary of the party has also offered Rs 51000 to booths where Congress does not get any vote. She then claimed Rajput is close to Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, reports NDTV.

Madhya Pradesh will undergo polling on November 7 and the counting will start on December 3.
