On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared his total assets to be worth Rs 3.02 crore and stated that he does not own a house or a car in the election affidavit as part of the information required to be submitted when filing a nomination. PM Modi has filed his nomination from Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi constituency, a BJP stronghold.
As per the affidavit submitted by the incumbent MP, out of the total assets worth Rs 3.02 crore, Rs 2.86 crore are in the form of fixed deposits with the State Bank of India. The affidavit also stated that the prime minister had Rs 52,920 in cash and four gold rings worth Rs 2,67,750.
PM Modi has two accounts in SBI, with Rs 73,304 deposited in the Gandhinagar branch and Rs 7,000 in the Varanasi branch.
The affidavit stated that PM Modi did not own a house, car, or land. No immovable assets have been declared.
PM Modi’s taxable income increased from Rs 11 lakh in the fiscal year 2018-19 to Rs 23.5 lakh in 2022–23. In the 2014 elections, he declared assets worth Rs 1.66 crore and Rs 2.51 crore in the 2019 general elections.
In the education column, PM Modi declared that he had completed a Bachelor of Arts from Delhi University in 1978 and a Masters of Arts from Gujarat University in 1983. The affidavit also states that there are pending cases against him.

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP chief JP Nadda, PM Modi filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections. He was also accompanied by four proposers: Pandit Ganeshwar Shastri, Lalchand Kushwaha, Baijnath Patel, and Sanjay Sonkar.
First contested in the 2014 elections as the NDA candidate, PM Modi is seeking a hat-trick win from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat. Congress candidate Ajay Rai and BSP candidate Athar Ali Lari are also standing for the elections.
The Varanasi Lok Sabha seat will go to the polls in the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to be held on June 1.
