The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first candidate list on Saturday. In the first list, the saffron party has fielded Praveen Khandelwal as its candidate for the Chandni Chowk constituency.

The first list of BJP consists of 195 candidates. Praveen Khandelwal is one of the prominent businessmen of Delhi. He is the founder and national secretary of an organization known as ‘Confederation of All India Traders’. This organization represents traders and the Small and midsize enterprise (SME) sector in India. Apart from this, Praveen is also an expert in business and economy.

The saffron party has given the ticket to Praveen by revoking the chance of Dr. Harsh Vardhan. As the Chandni Chowk is considered a bastion of traders, BJP has set Praveen as the trump card to win the Chandini Chowk seat thereby replacing two-time MP and former Union health minister Harsh Vardhan.

Praveen pursued a bachelor”s degree in Law from the University of Delhi in the year 1983. He also completed his BA from Ramjas College of DU in the year 1980.

In the year 2017, Khandelwal was nominated as a part of the government’s GST panel. Later in 2021, he became a member of the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) as a central government panel’s advisor.

Khandelwal being a proud Indian tradesman, launched a phase 2 campaign titled “Indian Goods-Our Pride” boycotting of Chinese goods across the country. He aimed to achieve a reduction in imports of Chinese manufactured goods by 1 lakh crore by December 2021. On August 15, 2021, Khandelwal launched a new e-commerce portal Bharat-e-market to complete incumbents Amazon India and Walnut-backed Flipkart.
