Rahul Kaswan grabbed headlines with his remarks against the Bharatiya Janata Party, his former party. Rahul left BJP after the party denied him ticket from the Churu Lok Sabha constituency, from where he won in 2014 and 2019. The Churu constituency has been a bastion of Rahul’s family since 1999. He is contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha election from the same constituency on Congress ticket, as he joined the grand old party after BJP denied him ticket. He is contesting against Devendra Jhajhadiya of BJP.
Rahul’s father, Ramsingh Kaswan has the Churu MP from 1999 to 2014. Talking to the Indian Express, Rahul said it was because of the Churu MLA of BJP, Rajendra Rathore, the he was denied the ticket. He said Rajendra has been trying to scuttle his chances even during the 2019 election, and this time he won. The politician said he had complained to the state president of BJP, C P Joshi about the concentration of the power in one hand but his complaint was not heard.
Rahul is confident that he wis going to win the election. Though he an d his family has been connected to the Bharatiya Janata Party for a long time, he said the people of Churu are already with him. This time its personal for Rahul Kawan. While speaking to Economic Times, the 47-year-old Rahul said his family has been working for the Churu for decades and now after 35 years later, BJP “has suddenly decided we are of no use? I can’t stop working for the people”.
