Sitting MLA Shinde Sena Manjula Tulshiram Gavit won from the Sakri Assembly segment. He defeated Pravin Bapu Chaure of the Congress by a margin of 5,584 votes.

In the 2019 polls, Gavit contested as an independent candidate and secured victory with 76,166 votes. He defeated BJP candidate Mohan Suryawanshi by a margin of 7,265 votes. After the polls, she joined Shiv Sena. During the Shiv Sena split in 2022, she remained with the Eknath Shinde group.

Gavit is a former mayor of Dhule Municipal Corporation. She earlier associated with the BJP. In the 2014 and 2009 Assembly elections, she contested for the Sakri seat on a saffron party ticket but lost. In 2014, Congress candidate Dhanji Sitaram Ahire won the seat, defeating Gavit. Ahire secured 74,760 votes, while Gavit garnered 71,437 votes. In the 2009 polls, Congress candidate Yogendra Reshama Bhoye defeated Gavit by a margin of 18,944 votes.

Sakri Assembly constituency is a ST reserve seat. It is located in Dhule district in the North Maharashtra region. The 288 Assembly seats in Maharashtra will go to polls on November 20 and counting of votes will take place on November 23.

The 288 assembly seats in the State went to polls in a single phase on November 20 and 66.05% voter turnout was recorded. The ruling Mahayuti alliance consists of the BJP, the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led breakaway faction of the Shiv Sena, and the deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The opposition alliance comprise the INDIA bloc’s MVA or the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which has the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), or SS (UBT) led by former CM Uddhav Thackeray, the NCP (SP) faction led by Sharad Pawar and the Congress.

As the ruling Mahayuti alliance hopes to continue in power, opposition Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) strives for a strong comeback. The BJP has fielded 149 candidates, Shiv Sena (Shinde) 81, and NCP (Ajit Pawar) 59. In the opposition, the Congress has fielded 101 candidates, Shiv Sena (UBT) 95, and NCP (Sharad Pawar) 86.
