‘Sudarshan Setu’: PM Modi Inaugurates India’s Longest Cable-Stayed Bridge

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India”s longest cable-stayed bridge, the “Sudarshan Setu”, today in Gujarat”s Dwarka. The bridge, connecting Okha and Beyt Dwarka island, has been constructed at a cost of Rs 979 crore. PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the 2.3 km-long bridge back in October 2017, emphasizing its significance as a link between old and new Dwarka.

According to an official release, the four-lane bridge boasts a width of 27.20 meters, with 2.50-meter wide footpaths on each side. What sets Sudarshan Setu apart is its unique design, featuring footpaths adorned with verses from the Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna on both sides.

Formerly known as the “Signature Bridge”, the structure has been renamed as “Sudarshan Setu” or Sudarshan Bridge. Beyt Dwarka, the destination connected by the bridge, is an island situated near Okha port, approximately 30 km from Dwarka town, renowned for the revered Dwarkadhish temple of Lord Krishna.

“Delighted to inaugurate Sudarshan Setu today – a bridge that connects lands and people. It stands vibrantly as a testament of our commitment to development and progress,” PM Modi posted on X after the inauguration.
