A significant electoral shift in Nirmal, as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Alleti Maheshwar Reddy secured a decisive victory with 1,06,400 votes, commanding a substantial majority of 50,703. This outcome marked a notable departure from the past two elections where Allola Indra Karan Reddy, now relegated to second place, had held sway. With 55,697 votes, Indra Karan Reddy conceded the crown, signaling a change in the political dynamics in Nirmal. Meanwhile, K Srihari Rao of the Indian National Congress (INC) secured the third position with 28,642 votes.
Nirmal Assembly constituency is one of 3 constituencies in Nirmal district. It comes under Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency along with 6 other assembly constituencies. The assembly constituency presently comprises 8 mandals, Nirmal, Dilawarpur, Laxmanchanda, Mamda,Sarangpur, Narsapur,Soan, Nirmal rural.
In the 2014 elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party emerged victorious, with Allola Indra Karan Reddy securing a significant win by garnering 61,368 votes against Kuchadi Srihari Rao of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Meanwhile, Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, who was then a member of Indian national congress, secured 38,951 votes.
In the 2018 election results, Allola Indra Karan Reddy, having transitioned from the Bahujan Samaj Party to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, secured a significant victory with 79,985 votes. His opponent, Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, who was a member of the Indian National Congress during that period and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, garnered 70,714 votes. The electoral changes showcased the evolving political affiliations and alliances, as candidates shifted party loyalties, influencing the outcome of the election.
When we make a whole outlook in the 2023 election in Telangana, it was in favour of the Indian National Congress, as it secured a significant victory by capturing approximately 65 seats. In contrast, the Bharatiya Janata Party faced set back securing only 8 seats, while the Bharathiya Rashtra Samiti gained around 40 seats.
