In a pivotal turn of events during the Telangana Assembly election, Madan Mohan Rao of the Indian National Congress (INC) emerged triumphant in the Yellareddy constituency. Rao”s commendable performance saw him polling 86,989 votes, surpassing the incumbent MLA Surendar Jajala from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), who secured 62,988 votes. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Banswada Subash Reddy, clinched the third position with a notable 27,000 votes.
This electoral showdown took place on November 30 in Yellareddy assembly constituency that encompasses six crucial Mandal’s – Yellareddy, Lingampett, Tadwai, Sadasivanagar, Nagareddipet, and Gandhari. The historical context reveals a dynamic political landscape, where in the 2014 assembly elections, Eanugu Ravinder Reddy triumphed over Surendar Jajala, securing 70,760 votes. BJP’s Banala Laxma Reddy secured the third position with 33,359 votes in that election, where the constituency had 199,213 voters.
In the 2018 Election, Surendar Jajala of INC reversed the tide, defeating Eanugu Ravinder Reddy with 91,510 votes to 56,362. Independent candidate Talari Balaraju claimed the third spot with 9,684 votes. The total electorate in 2018 was recorded at 195,183.
Eanugu Ravinder Reddy, who served as the MLA of Yellareddy from 2009 to 2018, faced defeat in the 2018 elections, paving the way for Surendar Jajala”s ascension to power. Now, Madan Mohan Rao of INC has secured a significant victory in the latest electoral contest.
The broader political panorama in Telangana reveals that among the total 119 seats in the Telangana Assembly, Congress has won 59 seats, followed by BRS in second place, and BJP in the third position. This outcome signifies a transformative shift in the political landscape of the Southern state.
