Jukkal, has resoundingly voiced its political preference. In the Assembly election, Congress candidate Laxmi Kantha Rao Thota emerged victorious over Bharat Rashtra Samithi”s (BRS) (then TRS) incumbent MLA Hanmant Shinde, in the Scheduled Castes (SC) reserved constituency.
In a closely contested battle, Laxmi Kantha Rao secured 64,489 votes, narrowly surpassing Hanmant Shinde”s 63,337. Meanwhile, BJP”s Aruna Thara garnered 28,437 votes
The Jukkal assembly constituency is consisted of six mandals: Jukkal, Madnur, Bichkunda, Pitlam, Nizamsagar, and Pedda Kodapgal. This political microcosm has seen a shift, as for the past three assembly elections, Hanmant Shinde of (BRS) emerged victorious. Notably, in 2009, he triumphed under the banner of Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
In 2014, Hanmant Shinde secured 72,901 votes, defeating Congress”s Gangaram Soudagar, who received 37,398 votes. Aruna Tara, an independent candidate, clinched the third position with 10,324 votes. The total electorate stood at 183,699.
In the 2018 elections, Hanmant Shinde again outpaced Gangaram Soudagar, securing 77,584 votes against the latter”s 41,959. Aruna Thara of BJP secured the third position with 18,840 votes, while the total electorate was 177,085. Notably, Aruna Thara consistently holds the third position, marking her electoral journey.
For 119 seats, the Telangana assembly elections was conducted on November 30 . According to the latest reports, INC leads with 60 seats, followed by BHRS with 38, placing BJP in the third position in the overall seat distribution.
