Koratla”s political landscape is changing as Kalvakuntla Sanjay of the Bharatiya Rashtriya Samithi (BRS) emerged as the winner in the Koratla Assembly Constituency in the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections. The Election Commission officially declared Kalvakuntla Sanjay”s victory with a significant lead of 72,115 votes. Kalvakuntla Sanjay beat Lok Sabha member Arvind Dharmapuri from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who received 61,810 votes. The elections to the Telangana State Assembly were held on November 30 in 119 constituencies.
The attention was on prominent contestants in the Koratla Assembly election, including Dharmapuri Arvind, Kalvakuntla Sanjay, and INC”s Juvvadi Narsinga Rao. The excitement peaked with a commendable 74.46 percent voter turnout in the Koratla constituency, indicating the electorate”s active participation in the political process.
Rewinding to 2018, the political ballad saw Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) securing a historic victory. Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao”s triumph over Juvvadi Narsinga Rao of the Indian National Congress (INC) was carved into another chapter of his decade-long political journey, strengthening his imprint on Koratla”s political canvas.
Koratla Assembly Constituency, located within Jagtial district, is a major region in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency, dictating political fates. The BJP”s Arvind Dharmapuri won the Nizamabad Lok Sabha (MP) seat by a remarkable margin of 70,875 votes over the TRS”s Kalvakuntla Kavitha.
Kalvakuntla Vidya Sagar Rao has been the consistent representative of Koratla Assembly Constituency since its creation in 2009. His dominance was on display in the 2018 electoral election, with a decisive 52 percent vote share.
