Madhavaneni Raghunandan Rao has been fielded as the BJP candidate from the Medak constituency. Raghunandan’s name was added to the second candidate list of the saffron party.

Born in Siddipet, Raghunandan hails from Medak district. The ex-MLA from Dubbaka is also a lawyer by profession. Rao began his political career as a Telangana Rashtra Samithi member. He began his political journey in 2001. He then served as the politburo member and Medak district convenor. But Raghunandan got suspended from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi on an allegation of meeting with Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu which he actively denied.

Later he chose to join Congress, but the party hopper resigned and decided to go with the saffron party.

In the 2014 general election, Rao contested the election from Dubbak constituency of Telangana state. He also served as the state party secretary and MLA of Bharat Janara Party in Telangana. Currently, Rao serves as a member of the legislative assembly in Telangana Dubbak in the 2020 by-poll election by a margin of 1,074 votes after the death of Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy.

As for his educational qualification, he completed BSc degree and then went to Osmania University to pursue LLB. Before entering into politics, Rao worked in a reputed Telugu newspaper Eenade as a news coordinator for five years.

The BJP leader has been alleged of a rape case in 2020. A women journalist filed a complaint alleging to be drugged and then later raped by the BJP leader. The woman claimed that she was abused when she approached him to file a maintenance case against her husband. Meanwhile, the BJP leader has denied all the allegations stating them to be baseless and politically motivated
