Godam Nagesh is fielded as the BJP candidate from Adilabad constituency. Notable leaders of BRS including Godam Nagesh, Shanampudi Saidireddy, and Seetaram Naik formally pledged alliance to the Bharatiya Janata Party at the party headquarters just days before the BJP published its second candidate list.
Politics in Telangana is witnessing a seismic shift with incumbent Members of the Parliament and Members of the Legislative Assembly from the BRS flocking to the BJP. Godam Nagesh initially contested the election in 1994 as the Telugu Desam Party candidate. His father G Rama Rao was the former Minister for Tribal Welfare. G Rama Rao contested the election in the Baoth seat and secured 51,593 votes. He was among the youngest legislators in the Legislative assembly at that time. G Nagesh was then named as the Minister of State for Scheduled Tribes Welfare and Welfare of the handicapped in the TDP state government after the election.
He was able to retain the seat in the 1999 election by obtaining 49,155 votes. G Ganesh also served as the President of the TDP district unit in Adilabad and chairman of the Girijan Cooperative Corporation. Just ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha election, he left TDP and joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) instead. He contested the election as TRS candidate from Adilabad constituency. In 2019, the TRS leader lost against Soyam Bapu Rao.
Godam Ganesh then joined the saffron party in 2024, March in the presence of the party’s General Secretary and Telangana state in charge Traun Chugh in New Delhi.
