BJP leader Shivendra Raje Bhosale is a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha empire. He has been representing the Satara assembly segment multiple times, and the party entrusted him with the same seat in the forthcoming assembly polls as well.

Bhosale began actively involve in politics after the death of his father, NCP leader Abhaysinhraje Bhosale. Before Shivendra Raje’s entry into politics, his father represented the Satara assembly segment.
Following Abhaysinhraje’s footsteps, Shivendra has started his journey with NCP. In his maiden assembly polls in 2004, he defeated BJP’s Bhonsle Shrimant Chhatrapati by a margin of 10914 votes in Satara. He retained the seat in the 2009, 2014, and 2019 elections as well.
In 2019, ahead of Assembly polls, Shivendra switched from NCP to BJP and contested from Satara on a BJP ticket. He defeated NCP rival Deepak Sahebrao Pawar by a margin of 43,424 votes.

Satara constituency consists of Satara City, Rural, and entire Jawli Taluks. The assembly segment, for a long time, has been considered a stronghold of the NCP and Congress. However, the political picture changed when Shivendra Raje Bhosale shifted to the BJP and won the seat on a saffron party ticket.
The 288 Assembly seats in Maharashtra will go to polls on November 20. The ruling Mahayuti alliance in the state consists of the BJP, the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP and the opposition, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprises the Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar).
As election dates are coming closer, the Mahayuti alliance and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are engaged in intense poll preparations. The Maharashtra Assembly elections mark the first after the Shiv Sena and NCP parties split in June 2022 and July 2023, respectively.
