Actor Rituraj Singh, who is currently playing the role of Yashpal Dhillon in the popular TV show Anupamaa passed away on Monday night due to cardiac arrest. The actor was only 59. The news came as a big shock to his fans and close ones.

Actor Amit Behl, the close friend of the actor confirmed the news to India Today and shared that Rituraj faced a cardiac arrest at 12:30 am in the night. The actor was suffering from some pancreatic disease and was hospitalised recently.

Amit Behl said, “Yes, he passed away due to cardiac arrest. He was admitted to a hospital some time back for treatment of pancreas, returned home, had some cardiac complications, and passed away,” reports TOI.

According to his friend, he had been facing challenges with pancreatic illness, reports Hindustan Times.

Taking to X, actor Arshad Warsi wrote, “I am so saddened to know that Ritu Raj passed away. We lived in the same building, he was a part of my first film as a producer. Lost a friend and a great actor… will miss you brother…”.

Apart from the TV show Anupamaa, the actor had an illustrious career in both TV and the film industry. Singh has worked in several popular Hindi drama television series, including ‘Banegi Apni Baat’. He co-starred in it with R Madhavan, the late actor Irrfan, and Surekha Sikri, among others.

He was also seen in TV soaps like ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, ‘Trideviyaan’, ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ and many others. Alongside Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, he acted in the film ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’.
