As the actress Rashmika Mandanna”s deepfake video is getting attention on the social media and raising concern, now, the edited image of Katrina Kaif from her upcoming film Tiger 3 is going viral. The original picture Ms Kaif posted on Instagram is of she engaged in an action sequence with a Hollywood stuntwoman. In the morphed version, she is seen in a low-cut white top, wherein original version the actress is wearing a towel.

The deepfake video featuring Ms Mandanna has got the attention of social media only on yesterday. In the video, a woman enetering an elevator has been shown and her face was edited into that of resembling actress. Abhishek Kumar, a journalist, in his twitter handle revealed that the original woman in the video was a British Indian influencer named Zara Patel. Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has demanded legal action against such deep videos circulating online. Ms Mandanna commented
on her video as “extremely scary.”

AI-generated deepfake video are causing alarm among the public, since distinguishing fake from the original become a difficult task. Not just celebrities, but ordinary citizens are also at the receiving end of deceptive digital content including images, videos, and audio. Also, deepfake technology can be used for spreading fake news and misinformation.
