After a series of intense films like Maharaja and Viduthalali, actor Vijay Sethupathi returned to the comedy genre with director Aarumuga Kumar’s Ace. The heist comedy entertainer stars Sethupathi, Yogi Babu and Rukmini Vasanth on board.
Produced by 7Cs Entertainment, the film also has B. S. Avinash, Babloo Prithveeraj, Muthu Kumar, Raj Kumar, Denes Kumar and Bazooka fame Divya Pillai in supporting roles. As the heist film hit theatres today, let’s look at the audience review.

Amidst predictable issues, the screenplay of the film seems to have worked well to entertain the audience. An X user wrote, “An enjoyable entertainer with lots of fun & interesting scenes. Predictable story but the screenplay was brilliantly executed scene by scene. VJS in a complete wholesome entertainer role⭐ Rukku gave a neat pleasant performance. Yogi Babu 😂 Overall, an enjoyable one.”

However, some people felt that the heist entertainer lacked the twists and turns required for the genre. A lack of humor and thrills also seems to have made the film “below average” This netizen felt, “Slow first half and predictable second half.” Heist comedy movie, but Yogi Babu’s comedy didn’t work totally. Vijay Sethupathi’s acting was nice. No twists and turns. Totally below-average movie.”

The movie just needed better staging & execution; it was feeling like watching a film that should have come out 10 years ago (KTv Movies) @VijaySethuOffl #YogiBabu managed to evoke laughter at intervals; Rukmini Vasanth was such a delight to watch. Okay, Padam.”

Another X user wrote, “#ACE – @VijaySethuOffl ’s film is a refreshingly fun crime comedy that’s mostly lighthearted and makes for a good watch. Feels a slightly bloated in length but thankfully has enough LOL moments to keep the proceedings going. One of those films where the hero picks brains over brawn. @rukminitweets shines in her Tamil debut with a meaty part. @iYogiBabu gets a solid part to entertain after a long time.”

Ace clashes with Tovino Thomas’ Narivetta and Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Detective Ujjwalan at the box office. Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights to the film. Ace is expected to have an OTT release around June.
