Vijay Sethupathi’s comedy entertainer Ace hit theaters today, May 23. The actor, who delivered back-to-back serious entertainers. is now offering a lighter and more humorous heist film. Directed by Aarumuga Kumar, Ace unites Vijay Sethupathi, and Yogi Babu for a comical ride. Rukmini Vasanth also makes her Tamil debut with the film.

Mixing up the genres of romance, crime and comedy, Vijay Sethupathi’s Ace offers a full-fledged entertainer designed to engage the audience to the core. Produced by 7Cs Entertainment, the film also stars B. S. Avinash, Babloo Prithveeraj, Muthu Kumar, Raj Kumar, Denes Kumar and Bazooka fame Divya Pillai in supporting roles.

Director Aarumuga Kumar, who previously worked with Sethupathi in Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren, has collaborated with the actor once again for a funny ride.

According to the trailer, the director has cooked up a heist film with comedy, romance and mystery elements.  It begins with introducing the hero, who has erased all his past identities and has arrived in Malaysia. Going by the name Bold Kannan, he gets acquainted with Yogi Babu’s character. Soon, we see that he is planning a heist and not much about the background and reasons is revealed.

The film also marks the second collaboration between Sethupathi and 7Cs Entertainment, which previously produced the actor’s 2021-released action drama, Laabam.  Justin Prabhakaran has scored the music for Ace, with Karan B. Rawat as cinematographer. Fenny Oliver is the editor.

Ace will clashing with Tovino Thomas’ Narivetta and Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Detective Ujjwalan at the box office. Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights to the film. Ace is expected to have an OTT release around June.
