Shah Rukh Khan”s Dunki which released theatres on Thursday has opened to mixed responses. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the comedy drama centers around the theme of illegal migration. Shah Rukh Khan fans, and makers of the movie are hoping that Dunki end 2023 on a high note.
As per the film trade portal Sacnilk, Dunki grossed over Rs. 30 crores on its opening day in India. And the worldwide collection records roughly point to Rs. 58 crores. Though Dunki witnessed a slow start in the second day, during the Christmas weekend it hopes to recover the collection. However, the film is least likely to live up to the collection records of Bollywood superstar”s previous two blockbusters, Pathaan and Jawan.

Times of India points that though Dunki marks King Khan”s least successful film of the year, the opening collections of the movie is far better than his 2018 movie Zero, directed by Aanand L. Rai. However, Dunki“s opening is lower than Sanju, Rajkumar Hirani”s last release. Dunki marks Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani”s first collaboration and also latter”s return to films after a gap of five years. Dunki probably not going to come in the line of Hirani”s previous blockbusters such as Munnabhai series, 3 Idiots, PK and Sanju.
Meanwhile, New York audience wholeheartedly accepted the movie with a “standing ovation.” Sharing the post, Shah Rukh Khan wrote on X: “Thank u New York…. Glad the film has touched your hearts. Sending my love…”
