Exceptional Screenplay, Emotional and Worthy Tribute To Army: Amaran Reviews

A biological drama, Tamil movie Amaran hit the big screen on Thursday, promising a spectacular visualisation of the chronicles of the real life of Mukund Varadarajan, a member of the 44th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles, who was killed in action during an encounter operation in 2014. Helmed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the movie, a biopic of the soldier life, has been receiving positive feedback from the reviewers.

According to movie goners on social media, Amaran delves into the themes of love and sacrifice, comprising actions, romance, patriotism, and emotion. Users have called the Amaran a real tribute to the heroic spirit of the soldier who died defensing the country, while praising the film, terming the performance of the cast intense and the storyline emotionally charged.

Reviewing Amaran, news house Times of India observed that the director has succeeded in doing justice to the brave soldier while faltering in presenting him as a family man. This is evident from the final moments of Mukund shown in the film; rather than going for an overdramatic farewell, the makers chose to handle the moment with dignity. The media house opines that it takes time for Amaran to get things going as the movie is told through the eyes of the protagonist’s wife, starting with their college days.

However, the news portal mentioned that each action sequence of the movie is nail-biting, taking the audience on the edge of their seats. “Those portions truly manage to elevate the film and help the film fully justify its genre. Similarly, the interactions between the officers also make us care for not just Mukund but also for his colleagues,” it noted, adding that the actors who played the soldiers role performed exceptionally well. It further underlined the actor Sivakarthikeyan performance, calling the acting phenomenal as the movie progresses. On Sai Pallavi’s acting, it says, as always, the actress outperformed in conveying the emotional scenes.

Media House India Today called the screenplay attention-grabbing, though the movie’s ending was known to most people watching. “Most credit goes to the solid emotional sequences featuring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi. With their effortless performance,” it observed, adding that the lead characters made the audience fall in love with them and cry with them.

The media house further appreciated composer GV Prakash’s music and background score, as the work does the perfect job of elevating the mood of the film.
