The superhit Bollywood film, Main Hoon Na, is directed by renowned filmmaker Farah Khan. Shah Rukh Khan starrer Main Hoon Na is a blend of action, romance, and comedy. The film, with its enthralling cast and script, was successful in creating an everlasting impression in the minds of the audience. The film became a blockbuster hit.

Farah Khan, renowned filmmaker and choreographer, began her directorial journey with the Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Main Hoon Na. The movie showcases an ensemble cast including Zayed Khan, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao, and Suniel Shetty. Despite being able to feature an impressive cast in the film, she recently opened up regarding the struggle she faced during the casting process of the film.

In an interview with casting director Mukesh Chhabra on Mashable India’s show The Bombay Dream, she highlighted the steadfast support she received from Shah Rukh Khan.

As there were no casting directors in her film, Farah Khan and her assistant took up the role. Shah Rukh Khan and Sushmita Sen were the only two fixed actors in the film in the beginning, as it was promised earlier, but the rest were uncertain.

Farah revealed in the interview that she has opted to cast Hrithik Roshan instead of Zayed Khan. But unfortunately, Hrithik’s sudden rise to stardom after the film Kaho Na Pyaar Hei led him to opt out of the film.

Similarly, she casted Ayesha Takia for the role, which was later taken up by Amrita Rao. But Ayesha too became unavailable due to her commitment to Imtiaz Ali’s Socha Na Tha. To cast Amrita in the role, Farah Khan sought the approval of Shah Rukh Khan, but the Jawan actor left the choice entirely up to the director.

Farah, revisiting the memory, said, “There is one thing about Shah Rukh Khan; he has never interfered in casting in any film ever”.

She also faced hurdles while casting for the antagonist role of Raghavan, the terrorist. She thought of casting Naseeruddin Shah for the role, but the plan fell through. The Pathaan actor, though, suggested Kamal Haasan for the role, he too declined the offer. She later approached Nana Patekar, but he too refused to join the team after making her wait for a week. Eventually, Suniel Shetty took up the role.

Despite, the renowned filmmaker’s long struggle, she was able to line up a stunning cast for the film. More than that, the film won the hearts of many.
