Hunt Reviews Out: “The Investigative Horror Thriller Needed More Bite”

After the superhit crime thriller ‘Chinathamani Kolacase’, the movie Hunt marked the second collaboration of director Shaji Kailas and actress Bhavana. As per the trailer, the plot of the film revolves around a murder that occurred in the college and the investigation surrounding it.

Bhavana, plays a forensic expert role, a character named Dr Keerthi in the film. Though the film’s trailer promised a riveting thriller experience with paranormal activity, the storyline was let down by an average screenplay.

As per the Times Now review, even after having a different and interesting premise, the movie could not live up to the potential its storyline had due to its confusing screenplay.

On the technical side, Times Now the editing failed to do complete justice to the non-linear storytelling the film was looking for.

The film’s several outdated making styles made the narrative so predictable at every juncture and hence, the Bhavana starrer is an underwhelming attempt with zero takeaways, writes lensmen reviews.

However, with all the flaws, the filmmakers have put in enough effort to keep the audience interested and on the edge of their seats for a considerable amount of time. The OTT play felt that the movie had stayed more on the medical thriller side, however had some jarring moments.

Though many of the characters couldn’t contribute much to the story, Bhavana had a credible role. Meanwhile, the makers of the film too were successful in creating a spooky atmosphere around a medical campus much like Shaji Kailas has done in Chinthamani Kolacase.

The OTT play has given its verdict of the film to be one time watchable.

On X, a movie critic called the Bhavana starrer a poor thriller that is completely outdated. “After giving 2 better films Shaji Kailas is back to his completely outdated mode. A poor thriller which doesn’t evoke any thrill or fear. The bgm and sound design are pain for the ear. Bhavana has done their part but the character is poorly written,” wrote on X.
