Kesari Chapter 2 Trailer Out: Akshay And Madhavan's Clash In The Tale Of Justice

We are in the era where historical texts get life through the big screens. Here comes a depiction of a horrific page from Indian history, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan’s periodic film, Kesari Chapter 2, directed by Karab Singh Tyagi, is here to bring the black pages of the British empire to the screens.

Inspired by true events, the sequel delves into the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the fight for justice led by C. Sankaran Nair, a lawyer and former President of the Indian National Congress (INC). The film has been produced by Dharma Productions, Cape Of Good Films & Leo Media Collective. The film will be released on April 18, 2025.

With Akshay portraying the role of Sankaran Nair and R. Madhavan as the opposition counsel Neville McKinley, Kesari Chapter 2 offers a periodic courtroom drama, carefully constructed with dialogues and powerful visuals.

The trailer effectively establishes the gravity of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre tragedy, that claimed at least 1,650 lives on April 13, 1919, while setting up the legal battle as its dramatic centerpiece.

One particularly striking moment shows him directly challenging the massacre’s perpetrator, General Dyer, who attempts to paint the victims as armed terrorists. “What weapons did you see in the hands of eight-month-old babies? Their kadas? Or their clenched fists?” Sankaran demands, establishing both the emotional and moral stakes of the legal proceedings.

While R Madhavan raises the intensity of the screenplay as the opposition counsel, Ananya Panday also appears as a lawyer, helping Akshayseek justice.

Following the 2021 film Sardar Udham, which approached the same historical event through the lens of revolutionary violence, Kesari Chapter 2 offers a different perspective on seeking justice for historical atrocities through legal channels rather than retribution.
