Akshay Kumar’s 'Sky Force' Takes Flight With Mixed Reactions

A still from Sky Force.

Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kelwani, Sky Force landed in theatres today. Starring Akshay Kumar, debutant Veer Pahariya, Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles, the film has been compared to Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone’s Fighter since both revolve around IAF officers.

Made at a budget of Rs 160 crore, Sky Force is generating mixed reviews from the audiences.

One X user observed that the film is has a good first half but overstretched in the second half. “Technically, it’s a terrible movie. Story-wise, it’s an average movie with a good first half and an overstretched second half. Sound-wise, it’s a superior movie. I am surprised why it’s free. It’s actually good,” wrote the user.

Another netizen complained that the film suffered from a “weak plot, flat characters, and uninspiring performances.” The user highlighted, “The action sequences are chaotic, and the CGI is underwhelming.

Storyline is Below Average… Akshay Kumar using Teleprompter… Not a Single Powerful Dialogue. Forced Humour… Akshay Kumar is now an Irrelevant Actor.”

Yet another netizen was impressed by the film. “So Sky Force as a movie definitely worked for me. Is bhedchaal me jaha sab dog fights and fighter planes pe movie bana rahe hai, it does hold it’s own because of the characters and the plot. Great performances keep things interesting till the very end,” wrote an X user.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under Maddock Films and Jyoti Deshpande under Jio Studio, Sky Force is based on India’s attack on the Sargodha airbase of Pakistan in the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965.
