Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat recently fell victim to sensationalised media reporting as she reacted to the news that her conversation with Ranveer Allahabadia was grossly misrepresented and has sparked unnecessary controversy about her and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. Some media headlines claimed Mallika Sherawat made provocative statements linking her name to Mahesh Bhatt and insinuated her mentor-like relationship with him misquoting her statement.

She posted on the X platform slamming some media outlets for twisting the content. She wrote: “So sad to see media misquoting blatantly and other outlets just copy-pasting blindly without proof check! Here is the video of my conversation with Ranveer Allahabadia and just to sensationalise you guys decide to use Mahesh Bhatt‘s name and outright misquote! He said, “Enjoy it! ‘cos the day they stop talking about you, that is the day you will cry.”

The actual conversation was about the motivation Mahesh Bhatt bestowed while everyone criticised her for her bold role in the Murder movie and its aftermath. She quoted that Mahesh Bhatt motivated her by saying “Enjoy it! ‘cos the day they stop talking about you, that is the day you will cry,” which further helped her to construe the impermanence of fame and public attention. Her statement highlighted that once the spotlight fades, individuals may crave the most attention.
However, the media’s sensationalised misquoting, left it to have real consequences as she expressed disappointment, stating, “After 20 years, I thought the media would become more responsible,” and has tagged some of the media outlets that have previously given blatant news about the actress.
