“Mere Papa Keliye Mera Pyaar”: Ranbir, Rashmika’s Animal Drops Trailer

The Hindi-language action thriller Animal, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, dropped their much-anticipated trailer on Wednesday. The movie will hit the theatre screens on December 1 this year.

The trailer was released by T-Series on YouTube and captioned: “The Animal… You have never seen before!”. The trailer agrees the caption as it presents a versatile Ranbir Kapoor on the screen – mixed with multiple sorts of emotions. He is seen a man of heart with love and care to family, especially to wife and father in certain scenes. But in contrast an unseen side of the coin is also featured, encompassed with anger, rage, vengeance, and blood.

The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial, as expected from earlier snippets is definitely an exploration of the complexities of a father and son relationship. Rashmika Mandanna is also presented with an emotional character shade, different from what she had done in the past.

To the negative side of the trailer, at several places it resembles the old take of Sandeep Reddy, which he used for the characterisation of Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh. Ranbir Kapoor in Animal is very much similar to Vijay Deverakonda in Arjun Reddy and Shahid Kapoor in the Kabir Singh – in terms of character display, emotional performances, and physical appearance.

Fans are eagerly waiting for the first collaboration between Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Mr Vanga is a prominent filmmaker, known for direction, screenwriting, and editing – predominantly in Hindi and Telugu films. His first feature film Arjun Reddy, starring Vijay Deverakonda, struck theatre in 2017 and was a commercial success.

The Telugu language movie gained him a huge recognition and the success continued with its Hindi remake – Kabir Singh, featuring Shahid Kapoor in the titular role. Kabir Singh ranked one among the highest grossing Hindi films of all time.

The basic plot revolves around Ranbir’s protagonist character and his remarkable transformation after consumed by a quest for vengeance. It was co-written, edited and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and produced by T-Series and Cine1 Studios. Besides Ranbir and Rashmika, the film stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimri, Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra, Suresh Oberoi, Ravi Gupta, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Siddhant Karnick and Saurabh Sachdeva.

The movie was officially declared by T-Series in 2020 with an announcement video featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Parineeti Chopra. In 2022, it was reported Rashmika Mandanna replaced Parineeti Chopra due to date clashes. Rashmika will be playing the role of Geetanjali, wife of Balbir Singh, played by Ranbir Kapoor.

The movie will hit the screen on December 1 this year in five languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. It was earlier scheduled for August 11 2023, but postponed due to extensive post-production work.
