Look Out Circular (LOC) issued by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Rhea Chakraborty was suspended by the vacation bench of Bombay High Court. The suspension was for a week for Ms. Chakraborty to travel to Dubai for a professional event. Ms. Chakraborty can now travel to Dubai. The Circular was initiated based on the request from CBI as a part of investigation of the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Ms. Chakraborty has submitted her plea in Bombay High Court seeking for the suspension of the Look Out Circular from December 27 to January 2 for attending a brand function in Dubai. She said she had a letter from the pet food company that proves her association with the company. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) claimed that she is no longer the brand ambassador of Drools Pets Pvt. Ltd and hence she doesn’t require the suspension of LOC.
Th hearing Rhea Chakraborty’s plea was conducted by Justice Kamal Katha and Justice Jitendra Jain. The actor’s advocate, Abhinav Chandrachud argued Riya Chakraborty and her family live in Mumbai and she has been cooperating with the investigation well, therefore she should be given permission to travel. Since the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death was registered in Patna, from where the CBI has taken over the case, the CBI argued that Rhea Chakraborty should apply a petition in Patna High Court if wanted permission to go abroad. CBI was represented by advocate Shriram Shirsat.
Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead on June 14, 2020. The actor’s death shook the nation to the core. Mumbai Police registered the case as “accidental death”. In the beginning, Mr. Rajput was said to hang himself. When his father filed a complaint to Bihar police accusing Rhea Chakarborty and her family for abetting the star’s suicide, things went downhill for Rhea Chakraborty. Ms. Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty was detained by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and was released after 28 days. The Look out Circular against Showik Chakraborty along with Rhea Chakraborty was issued in August 2020. Earlier this year, the High Court temporarily suspended the circular against Showik Chakraborty and allowed him to travel abroad.
