Days after announcing the onboarding of Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt as an executive producer for Prime Video”s crime drama Poacher, the makers released an awareness video based on the upcoming show featuring Bhatt.
Set in a forest, the short video depicts a shaken Alia Bhatt stumbling upon a rifle, bullet casings and the outline of a lifeless body of an elephant. The voiceover of Bhatt suggests that there had been another poaching incident of an elephant called Ashok, “Ashok”s murder was reported at 9 this morning. The third one this month. His body was lifeless…mutilated. Ashok was just 10 years old. He never saw his killers.”
Sharing the video, the National Award winner documented her experience while shooting for the video. Bhatt stated that even though it was a one-day shoot, the concept of the video gave her chills. “Murder is murder…” she wrote, highlighting the subject matter of the video and the series – poaching. Based on true events, the series is a wildlife investigative drama based on the illegal poaching of elephants.

The series boasts of a powerful cast including Roshan Mathew, Nimisha Sajayan and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in lead roles. Known for Delhi Crime, Emmy award winner Richie Mehta has directed the wildlife crime drama which is all set to release on February 23 on Prime Video.
