The 77th edition of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) witnessed Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer take the cake with seven awards including Best Picture, Best Leading Actor and the coveted Best Film on February 18.

In a glittering ceremony held at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festive Hall, the BAFTA honored the finest talents in the film industry. Attended by esteemed actors, directors, and royalty, the BAFTA’s saw Poor Things as the other stand-out winner with five wins, including Best Actress (Emma Stone).

Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest secured three wins while Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers took two awards home.

Cillian Murphy created history as the first Irish-born actor to win the film BAFTA for Best Actor.

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie (five nods), Saltburn (five nods), Maestro (seven nods) and Killers of the Flower Moon (nine nods) were shut out.

Hosted by Doctor Who actor David Tennent, the night was graced by Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s live performance of her 2001 hit “Murder on the Dancefloor”, which had a resurgence thanks to a racy scene Saltburn. Celebrities such as Dua Lipa, David Beckham and Deepika Padukone were among the few notable presenters.

  • Best Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer: Earth Mama – Savanah Leaf (Writer, Director, Producer), Shirley O’Conner (Producer), Medb Riordan (Producer)
  • Best Film Not in the English Language: The Zone of Interest – Jonathan Glazer
  • Best Animated Film: The Boy and the Heron – Hayao Miyazaki, Toshio Suzuki
  • Best Outstanding British Film: The Zone of Interest – Jonathan Glazer, James Wilson, Ewa Puszczynska
  • Best Documentary: 20 Days in Mariupol – Mstyslav Chernov, Raney Aronson Rath
  • Best Casting: The Holdovers – Susan Shopmaker
  • Best Cinematography: Oppenheimer – Hoyte van Hoytema
  • Best Editing: Oppenheimer – Jennifer Lame
