Prabhu Deva Joins ‘Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer' Location

Actor, choreographer and director Prabhu Deva joined the location of ‘Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer’. The Jayasurya movie, helmed by ‘Home’ director Rojin Thomas and written by R Ramanand. Kathanar also features Anushka Shetty and Vineeth apart from Jayasurya and Prabhu Deva. This is after more than a decade the Tamil actor-director is coming back to Malayalam industry. Before this he had done a memorable role of Vavvali in Santosh Sivan directoral Urumi (2011).

The movie, which has been planned to release in two parts, follows the life journey of Kadamattathu Kathanar, a fabled 9th-century Christian priest renowned for his mystical abilities. Jayasurya, who is known for his versatility in the Malayalam movie industry, will be playing the titular character, while, Anushka Shetty, in her Malayalam debut, will play Kalliyankattu Neeli, a prominent character from Malayalam folklore and mythology. According to legend, Kalliyankaatt Neeli is associated with black magic and is said to possess supernatural powers, which she uses to wreak havoc or inflict harm upon those who cross her path.

Prabhu Deva”s character has not been revealed yet.

Produced by Gokulam Gopalan of Sree Gokulam Movies, the film is set for its initial release in 2024.

In addition to the original Malayalam version, the production team intends to distribute the movie in various dubbed languages, including English, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Chinese, French, Korean, Italian, Russian, Indonesian, and Japanese.
