Bollywood is united to celebrate the Greatest Showman of India while commemorating the 100th birthday of the legendary actor, Raj Kapoor. The extravagant three-day affair of the Raj Kapoor Film Festival marks the attendance of the biggest stars of Indian cinema in celebrating the timeless classics of the legend. Let’s take a look at the star-studded affair.
To celebrate the remarkable part of the acclaimed filmmaker, the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the National Film Archive of India (NFAI), in collaboration with RK Films and the National Film Heritage Foundation, have launched the film festival in Mumbai from 13th to 15th December.

This nostalgic celebration of Raj Kapoor’s legacy comprises screenings of his most iconic films, interactive sessions, and cultural programs. The festival is packed with events that honour the veteran, including retrospectives on his pathbreaking work, panel discussions featuring film historians, and performances of classic songs from his films.
Commemorating the nostalgic union, a curated lineup of his timeless classics was restored in 4K under the National Film Heritage Mission. The screenings at NFAI are free and open to the public. It features five timeless classics—Anari (1959), Bawre Nain (1950), Teesri Kasam (1966), Jagte Raho (1956), and Sangam (1964). Each film showcases a different facet of Kapoor’s genius as an actor and director and offers audiences a chance to relive the golden era of Indian cinema.

The entire Kapoor dynasty graced the occasion with their presence. Senior members of the Kapoor family, like Randhir Kapoor, Babita Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Rima Jain, marked their presence alongside younger members and stars of the family, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt, who graced this monumental event.
The Kapoors have also invited PM Narendra Modi to grace the occasion, but the attendance of the politician is not yet confirmed.
Actress Alia Bhatt shared glimpses of this memorable occasion on her social media handle and wrote, “Time isn’t measured by days, but by memories. Coming together to celebrate the eternal showman, loved by audiences of all ages and countries—the unparalleled Raj Kapoor.”
