Shah Rukh Khan topped an annual UK list of the Top 50 Asian Celebrities in the World. The list was published by UK weekly Eastern Eye on Friday.
The King Khan secured the coveted top spot with double box-office success of “Pathaan” and “Jawan” this year. Still cherishing at the historic success of these two films, Bollywood superstar is all set for the third film, Rajkumar Hirani”s Dunki. Makers and fans are optimistic that this comedy drama, which will reach theatres in 7 days, going to be a hat trick in terms of blockbuster.
“By the time 2023 ends, King Khan will become the first leading man from the modern era to have three huge Bollywood blockbuster hits in a calendar year,” Eastern Eye entertainment editor Asjad Nazir, who compiled the list previewed in London on Wednesday said.
Asjad Nazir added that by bringing audience back to movie theatres with a massive force, Shah Rukh Khan provided much-required boost for the film industry and it had “transformative effect.” Continuing further, entertainment editor said that Shah Rukh Khan had “eclipsed everyone with his brilliance” and said that it recalled global audiences the capability of the “escapist Bollywood cinema.”
The list of “Top 50 Asian celebrities” was curated on the basis of three factors – their impactful work, breaking boundaries, and being generally inspiring – during the course of an year. It has been tabulated on the basis of public inputs, wherein readers and social media users recommends their choices.
Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt secured second spot for her impact in Bollywood and Hollywood as well as for being a strong role model for working mothers. Priyanka Chopra Jonas came in third spot as the most famous Indian on the planet. Her path-breaking work in the international field – acting in Citadel, and Hollywood film Love Again, humanitarian work, and lighting up the red carpet globally won her the recognition. Diljit Dosanjh”s contribution as an actor and singer, including cinema, international music collaboration and music performances places the “biggest Punjabi star” in the fourth place.
