In light of the ongoing protest in Kolkata following the rape and murder case of a 31-year-old trainee doctor, Singer Shreya Ghoshal announced the cancellation of her Kolkata concert (All Heart Tour) on Saturday.
The actress has issued a statement on the microblogging platform X.

Shreya in her post stated that she is “deeply affected by the gruesome and heinous incident” which has taken place in Kolkata. Condemning the incident and referring to it as “sheer brutality”, the singer wrote, “Being a woman myself, the very thought of the sheer brutality that she must have gone through is unthinkable and sends shivers down my spine”.

Shreya further added that the much-anticipated concert was rescheduled as a mark of solidarity with the ones who are protesting on the streets demanding justice for the trainee doctor.
“I sincerely pray for the respect and safety of the women in this world, not just our country. I am hopeful my friends and fans will accept and understand our decision to push this concert. Please stay together with my band and myself, as we stand united against the demons of humankind,” she further added.

The singer concluded her post by reassuring her fans that the new dates of the concert will be announced soon.
The ‘All Heart Concert’ was initially scheduled to be held on September 14.
The gruesome has sparked widespread protests across the country including Kolkata, with demonstrators demanding justice for the victim and the implementation of stricter laws to prevent such acts against women.
The tragic incident took place on August 9, when the semi-naked body of the trainee doctor, a second-year postgraduate student, was discovered in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
As per the forensic report, the doctor was raped and killed by Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer who was attached to the Kolkata Police.
