Sunny Deol Welcomes Fauji Varun Dhawan To 'Border 2' (Image-Instagram/varundvn)
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has joined the cast of Sunny Deol’s war sequel Border 2. With Varun on board, the film will be hitting the theaters on January 2025.
As the sequel of the 1997 blockbuster Border bubbled up the anticipation, Sunny welcomed Varun on the mission as part of one the battalions today. The actor made the official announcement on his X handle today as he posted a clip featuring Varun’s voice in the background.

“Dushman ki har goli se Jai Hind bol kar takrata hoon, jab dharti maa bulati hai, sab chhod kar aata hoon,” he said in the video. The post further revealed that the film is scheduled for release during the Republic Day weekend, January 23, 2026.
Earlier, reports suggested that Ayushmann Khurrana was on board to play the role of solider in the film. However, the actor backed out later due to creative issues. He also said that he was unsure about his role in the film. And, now, the makers have officially announced the Bhediya actor as a key player in the movie along with Sunny Deol.

Border 2 will be directed by Anurag Singh, who has previously helmed Kesari and Punjab 1984. The film was announced on June 13, 2024, marking 27 years of Border. It has been declared “India’s biggest war film” by the makers.
