Shah Rukh Khan”s picture with Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani is now going viral on social media after a former Rajya Sabha MP made a claim on the Bollywood superstar’s role in the release of the eight Indian Navy veterans from the Qatari prison.

Subramanian Swamy earlier today claimed that King Khan helped persuade the Qatar government for the release of Indian veterans, sparking discussions on Shahrukh Khan’s role in the release of the Navy veterans held on espionage in Qatar.

The former MP replying to Prime Minister Modi’s post on his visit to the UAE and Qatar wrote that the prime minister should take Shah Rukh Khan to Qatar. He further said that the prime minister Modi pleaded with Shah Rukh Khan to intervene for the release of the Navy veterans after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and India’s National Security Advisor (INS) failed to persuade the Sheikhs of Qatar.

“Modi should take Cinema star Shah Rukh Khan to Qatar with him since after MEA and NSA had failed to persuade the Sheikhs of Qatar, Modi pleaded with Khan to intervene and thus got an expensive settlement from the Qatar Sheikhs to free our Naval officers (sic),” Swamy wrote replying to Prime Minister Narendra Modi”s post on X. Media houses reported the former BJP leader’s comment carrying news stories about the Bollywood star’s alleged involvement in freeing the navy veterans from Qatar.

However, in response to the former BJP leader’s claim, Shah Rukh Khan”s office released an official statement stating that the assertions of his involvement in the release of Indian naval officers from Qatar are unfounded. It further unequivocally denied Shah Rukh Khan”s participation in the matter, stressing that the execution of this successful resolution solely rests with the Indian government officials.

The statement further added, “Additionally, all matters involving diplomacy and statecraft are best executed by our very able leaders. Mr. Khan like many other Indians is happy that the naval officers are home safe and wishes them all the best,” the statement shared by Shah Rukh Khan”s manager Pooja Dadlani reads.

The viral image on social media now shows Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani greeting the Bollywood star. However, he was in Qatar to attend the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) cup final as a special guest.
