In the era of celebrating cinema without the boundaries of language and culture, Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja is one among the few creations that extend their boundaries to reach the international audience. Vijay Sethupathi is all set to capture the hearts of his fans worldwide again, with his action thriller gearing up for its grand launch in Chinese theaters.

Followed by its Japanese release, Maharaja hereby kickstarts the Chinese arena for the acclaimed Indian films. Having smashed the Indian theaters and won hearts with its layered narration of mysteries, the film also attained the milestone of a successful 100 days in theaters. The film is set to hit the Chinese theaters on November 29.

Notably, another Bollywood film, Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is also set to hit the Japanese theaters on the same day of Maharaja‘s release, November 29.

Making the special announcement of the film, the Jawan actor shared its chinesee poster on Instagram and wrote, “Maharaja is all set to hit the China screens on 29th November. Written & directed by @Dir_Nithilan”

The film is a special one in actor Vijay Sethupathi’s career. Maharaja turned out to be the 50th film of the actor. To make things special, the film also joined the Rs 100 crore club of Indian cinema and earned a total of Rs 110 crore at the box office. Ending its theatrical run with a history in its collection, the film reached the OTT platform on 12 July 2024. Interestingly, the film also received the glory of being the most-watched Indian film on Netflix in 2024, on its OTT release.

Through this, Sethupathi’s Maharaja became one among the films that reached an international audience with their native language. Laapataa Ladies, Jawan, and Kalki 2898 AD were other Indian films that hit the theaters of Japan.
