Lokash Kanagaraj directorial ‘Leo’ is all set to be released on big screens from October 19, Thursday. Vijay starrer has long been known to be a part of this Lokesh Cinematic Universe, yet the official confirmation so has never been explicitly stated by the makers.
But last year, just a day before the release of the movie “Vikram”, writer, director Lokesh Kanagaraj posted an official statement asking the fans to revisit ‘Kaithi’ before getting into the World of Vikram. Karthi starrer ‘Kaithi’ which was released on October 2019 became a box office success and was well celebrated among the fans.
Kaithi movie has got its own specialty. Unlike other Tamil movies, there were no romantic song sequences nor masala to entertain the audience. But instead Lokesh presented the film with one-night event packed with fight sequences, suspense, action and emotion. And the movie ended with no hints of second part. Soon after the release of Vikram, fans categorized Lokesh movies into ‘LCU- Lokesh Cinematic Universe” and it was happily taken up by the director.
In his recent interviews, Lokesh shared his plan to make 10 more films. Ever since the movie ‘Leo’ was announced, the most pressing inquiries has been whether Leo is part of LCU. Mostly he dismissed the question and asked the fans to watch the movie first.
By decoding the trailer of ‘Leo’, most of the fans have confirmed it to be the third movie after Vikram. The movie “Leo” has same characteristic features and plot lines as that of Vikram and Kaithi. And also it is evident that the plot revolves around drug business. So, there is a chance for it to be connected with ‘Rolex’ role played by Surya in the movie Vikram. He was portrayed as a cold-blooded don in the movie. In the LCU movies, the main plot was a battle between the drug mafia and a bunch of police officers. But, Vijay”s connection in LCU is still unclear. Vikram and Kaithi revolves around family emotions and similar family bonding could be spotted in the Leo trailer too. Vijay resting on an arm chair with his daughter laying on his lap is similar to the movie scene in Vikram in which Kamal Hassan resting along with his grandson. Fans expect mentioning any of the previous characters name or presence in the movie.
Leo promo video further showcases groups of masked-men-in black travelling towards Vijay. In Vikram, Kamal Hassan leads this masked vigilantes to hunt down the drug mafias. These all elements hints Leo to be part of LCU. And thus, re-watching Kaithi and Vikram will be a good option before heading to the theaters.
