Actor Sai Pallavi is facing backlash on social media with the hashtag #BoycottSaiPallavi after an old interview of hers resurfaced online facing an attack from right-wing groups following her comment on the Indian Army.
In the 2022 interview, Sai Pallavi expressed her thoughts on violence saying she doesn’t understand it. She shared examples, including the Kashmiri Pandit genocide and a Muslim driver being lynched by a mob chanting Jai Shri Ram. The short clip of the interview was widely shared to spread misinformation and incite hatred.
Many people feel Sai Pallavi’s comments disrespect the Indian Army and equate them with Pakistani terrorists. Some comments online call for boycotting her upcoming films including her role as Maa Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.
This is what she thinks don’t just #BoycottSaiPallaviMovies but also boycott her movie Amaran and she is going to play Sita in Ramayana which should be opposed as well.

Sai Pallavi recently visited the National War Memorial, paying tribute to Indian soldiers. Some see this as an attempt to diffuse the controversy. The highly anticipated film Amaran, a biographical film directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, will hit theatres on October 31. The film is an adaptation of the acclaimed book series India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, focusing on the bravery of Major Varadarajan.
I wanted to visit the #NationalWarMemorial before starting the promotions for #Amaran. This sacred temple houses thousands of “brick-like-tablets” in the memory of every Braveheart, who has laid down their lives for us. I was brimming with emotions while paying respect to Major… pic.twitter.com/OdUk1m9685
