Thalapathy Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time aka GOAT hit theatres today. As initial responses are adulating over Vijay’s performance in the movie, will this penultimate film of the actor will advance his options in political journey?
At trailer launch event, Director Venkat Prabhu underlined that GOAT is a commercial film and stated that Vijay didn’t want any line to be written to promote his political career.

“GOAT is a commercial film, and not a political film. Of course, some dialogues in the trailer might allude to his political career. But when you see the film, you’ll know how all of these actually fit in perfectly with the narrative. There are no political references in GOAT. Vijay sir sees a film as a film, and most importantly, he knows of my knowledge about politics. We never discuss politics at all,” the Indian Express quotes as Prabhu is saying.
Though not to add much political weightage, there are references in the movie that stress his political entry.
“…the movie might find its purpose outside the entertainment sector as well, that it will elevate the actor’s charisma a bit more as he is aiming big with a political plunge, though the movie does not have much of political messages. If you dig deep, there are two references that carry political references: one is the government agents who live and die for the nation fighting terrorists, and other one is the name of the lead character’s name – Gandhi and the repeated use of ‘father of the nation’ all through the movie. These are helping the movie in many ways, but how the movie is going to help Vijay’s political career, wait and watch,” Timeline reviews.

Even though compared to his earlier ventures like Mersal or Master, where political messages are explicit, similar elements are not explored in GOAT much. But, surely, Vijay’s charisma that Prabhu projected through the movie will definitely help in his next step.
