'Low Increase': Kerala Nurses To Continue Strike From March 9, Day After Getting Pay Hike
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: After the Kerala government officially issued a notification to increase the wages of nurses and other employees in the private hospital on Friday, the Kerala nurses association today, March 7, declared that they will continue the complete work shutdown from March 9, noting that the hike is very low. The nurses are asserting that they will not withdraw the strike until their demand of Rs 40,000 as basic pay is met.
The government had hiked the minimum salary of healthcare workers to a range from Rs 25,450 to Rs 28,000, and for the senior or higher positions as high as Rs 33,080. The salary hike was made after a high-intensity, three-day strike led by the United Nurses Association (UNA) in front of the State Secretariat.
