'Risky Sexual Behaviour Among Young People: Kerala Sees Significant Spike In HIV Cases
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The number of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) cases has been a significant uptick in Kerala over the past few years, as about 100 new positive cases are reportedly each month from the state.
According to the healthcare experts, the spike in the number of HIV cases is primarily due to the increase in risky sexual encounters among the younger population.

With uncontrolled exposure to the normalization of extreme individual liberty, paving the way for new age terms such as situationship, relationship, friends with benefits, nanoship, open relationship among others, the practice of engaging in sexual contact with no guilt among young has considerably increased.
Notably, the rise in sexually transmitted diseases is higher among the early young people, aged between 15 and 24, raising concerns about whether these teenagers are aware of the risks associated with unhealthy engagement.
