The ex-Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia met ailing wife on Saturday after court grant him permission. He had been under arrest in a money laundering case connected to the alleged liquor policy case and was assisted by security professionals on his visit to meet wife at Delhi home.

It was on Friday, the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court grant Mr Sisodia, who is in judicial custody at the Tihar Jail, permission to visit wife. He was directed to visit wife between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday, under security. Mr Sisodia was also instructed not to address any media or indulge in any political activity during the allocated period.

“His wife has a serious illness”, said Delhi Minister of Health, Saurabh Bharadwaj on Saturday while responding to a question by the reporter of the news agency ANI. “It”s that kind of illness that doesn”t have any treatment… He has got six hours (to meet them)”, he added while saying Mr Sisodia’s wife was suffering serious stress on seeing her husband rejected of bail by the court.

As said by the application which Mr Sisodia filed in request for permitting him to visit his wife, she was suffering from an acute attack of multiple sclerosis and has been diagnosed with various psychological problems.

It was recently the top court of India dismissed his bail petition. Earlier those applications were rejected by the High Court as well as the trial court. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor policy case on March 9.  Earlier, he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26.

Manish Sisodia is also a journalist and former social activist. He served as the first Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi from 2015 to 2023, and is one of the founding members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a member of its National Executive Committee. He was a cabinet minister in the Government of Delhi between December 2013 and February 2014 and continued to hold several cabinet positions even after becoming the Deputy Chief Minister.
